Bulk management: select, tag, and delete uploads at scale

On a Pro event you can flip into Manage mode, multi-select uploads, then tag or delete them in one operation. Here is how it works and the workflows photographers actually use it for.

Updated Apr 22, 2026For hosts

Weddings generate a lot of photos. A 150-guest wedding on a busy night can push 800 guest uploads plus your own camera roll. Going one-by-one to tag or remove them is not realistic. Bulk management on Pro lets you clean a whole gallery in the time it takes to finish a coffee.

How to enter Manage mode

From your event page, click Manage in the toolbar. The toolbar changes, tiles get a checkbox in the corner, a selection counter appears, and tag/delete actions replace the normal buttons.

Click tiles to toggle their selection. Click Done to exit, or click somewhere outside a tile and press Escape.

If the Manage button shows a lock icon, your event is on the free or Couple tier. Bulk tools are a Pro feature. See plan differences.

What you can do with a selection

Once you have a selection, you can:

  • Tag with a moment (Ceremony, Reception, Dinner, Dancing, Speeches, Other)
  • Add a custom tag (free text, e.g. getting-ready or first-dance)
  • Clear the moment tag on all selected uploads
  • Delete selected uploads

Tags are additive, a photo can have one "moment" tag plus multiple custom tags. See Auto-tag uploads for a faster way to apply moment tags when you have lots of photos.

Keyboard tricks

  • Shift-click to select a range. Click one tile, shift-click another, everything between gets selected.
  • Cmd/Ctrl+A selects every visible tile. (Filter first if you want to select only a subset.)
  • Escape exits Manage mode.

Common workflows

Delete duplicates fast

Guests take 6 almost-identical photos of the first kiss. You want to keep the best one.

  1. Filter the gallery to the Ceremony tag (or scroll to where duplicates cluster).
  2. Enter Manage mode.
  3. Shift-click the first duplicate, then the last, to range-select.
  4. Unselect the one you want to keep (click it to toggle off).
  5. Delete.

Five seconds per batch.

Remove a bad actor

Someone uploaded 12 photos of their shoes. You want them gone.

  1. Apply the Guest name filter to the guest's name (if they typed one).
  2. Enter Manage mode.
  3. Cmd+A to select all visible.
  4. Delete.

Tag an entire chunk of the night

You forgot to auto-tag and now you want to mark all the first-dance photos.

  1. Sort by upload time (default).
  2. Scroll to where first-dance uploads start.
  3. Enter Manage mode.
  4. Shift-click from the first first-dance photo to the last.
  5. Tag โ†’ Dancing (or whatever moment).

For anything bigger than a small window, use Auto-tag uploads, it does this based on upload timestamps automatically.

Prep a delivery gallery

You are handing this gallery to the couple as a finished keepsake. Before switching to Delivery Gallery mode:

  1. Manage mode โ†’ select junk uploads โ†’ Delete.
  2. Manage mode โ†’ select keepers in the wrong order โ†’ Tag with custom tag like highlight to batch-export later.
  3. Exit Manage mode.
  4. Switch to Album delivery mode and reorder.

Deletion is a soft delete

When you delete uploads in bulk, they are soft-deleted. The underlying files stay in storage for 30 days for recovery in case of mistake, then they are purged by a nightly job.

Recovery is not surfaced on the event page right now, contact support within 30 days if you delete the wrong batch and we can restore them.

Selection limits

There is no hard cap on the selection size, but practically the toolbar stops being usable past ~500 selected uploads on most laptops. If you need to do a big operation:

  • Use filters to narrow the view first (by moment tag, by guest, by file type)
  • Split into 2-3 passes instead of one
  • Or use Auto-tag if it is a tagging operation

Undo

There is no in-UI undo for a bulk delete. The 30-day recovery window above is the safety net. If you realize within seconds that you deleted the wrong thing, stop and contact support immediately, we can restore faster if the files have not been GC'd yet.

Can guests see bulk operations?

No. Everything in Manage mode happens server-side once you confirm. Guests who are viewing the gallery see tiles disappear (deletion) or show a new tag pill (tagging) on next refresh. They do not see "host is managing right now" or any in-progress state.
